New surf clip "Good Times Bad Times" by Tiago Pires (Saca)

Today I want to show you the new surf clip featuring Tiago Pires, the first and only Portuguese ever in the Dream Tour of Surfing. 

"Good Times Bad Times" shows black and white tube riding scenes that makes you out of breath. Those scenes were taken from the best places around the world such as Java, Tahiti and Coxos, Portugal.

About this new short movie, Saca says that (with my translation) "Life in the World Tour is made of ups and downs. In between not so good results and some frustations, we could not let unspoken moments where one is having fun, doing the thing we like the most. This video shows some of those good moments".

Rip Curl Pro Peniche, Portugal 2013

   Hi once again! As you may probably know, the Rip Curl Pro Peniche 2013 is about to start at Supertubos beach in Portugal, near my hometown, Praia da Areia Branca.

   Currently, Mick Fanning, after a big win in France, is the principal contender for the ASP World Championship Title. Being the 9th out of 10 events in the ASP World Championship Tour, the perfect waves of the Sand Break Supertubos are extremely important to decide who will take the crown as the next World Champion.

   The 2013 ASP World Title is down to five surfers: Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater, Jordy Smith, Joel Parkinson and Taj Burrow, but only the 2-times World Champion Mick Fanning can be crown at Supertubos. The winning possibilities (taken from the ASP website) are as follows:

If Fanning wins the event:

- Slater will need a 3rd or better to take the title decision to Hawaii.
- Smith, Burrow and Parkinson will be out of the race.

If Fanning finishes Runner-Up in Portugal:
- Slater will need a 9th or better to take the title decision to Hawaii.
- Smith will need to win the event to take the title decision to Hawaii.
- Burrow and Parkinson will be out of the race.

If Fanning finishes 3rd in Portugal:
- Slater will need a 9th or better to take the title decision to Hawaii
- Smith, Burrow and Parkinson will need to win the event to take the title decision to Hawaii.

If Fanning finishes 5th or worse in Portugal:
- The ASP World Title decision will go to Hawaii as, even with a 25th in Portugal, Slater can still win in Hawaii.

  Julian Wilson won the 2012 edition of the Rip Curl Pro Peniche, in a somehow polemic final heat against the Brazilian Gabriel Medina. Check out the 2012 Final Day Highlights at Supertubos:

Richie Campbell, That's How We Roll

  Today I want to show you a very good Portuguese Reggae Musician, Richie Campbell. With two albums released he is one of the most well-known Reggae musicians of Portugal.

  Playing with 911 band, considered by many to be the best Portuguese Reggae "Backing Band", Richie Campbell already collaborated with well-know international Reggae Musicians like Anthony B. and Kymani Marley.

(PART 4) Surf / Road Trip, Vicentina Coast and Algarve - Vila Nova de Milfontes - Odeceixe

  The third day of our trip started in Vila Nova de Milfontes, one of the main towns in Vicentina Coast. After a good night sleep and saying goodbye to João's friends we were back on the road. I was hopeful that in that day I would catch some waves and so we headed to Zambujeira do Mar, a small town known for its beautiful beach, good conditions for Surf and the Music Festival "Sudoeste".

   O terceiro dia da nossa trip começou em Vila Nova de Milfontes, uma das principais vilas da Costa Vicentina. Depois de uma noite bem dormida e de dizer adeus aos amigos do João, continuámos a nossa viagem para Sul. Estava mesmo com esperanças que seria nesse dia que havia de surfar umas boas ondas e portanto fomos até à Zambujeira do Mar, uma pequena vila que tem uma muito bonita praia, boas condições para o Surf e que alberga o festival de verão "Sudoeste".

   This Festival occurs near Zambujeira do Mar every year in August and gathers a lot of known artists from all around the world. It last 5 days but with your festival ticket you can camp there for 10 days and enjoy the great beach of Zambujeira do Mar. This year the festival featured S.O.J.A., Donavon Frankenreiter (I posted about this surfer and musician some time ago at Surf Locus), Natiruts, Pete Tha Zouk, Calvin Harris, DJ Ride, Snoop Lion, Frankie Chavez (I also did a post about this crazy Portuguese musician some time ago), Mind da Gap, Richie Campbell and others, uniting Reggae, Hip Hop, Rock...in a single festival.

   Este festival ocorre todos os anos em Agosto perto da Zambujeira do Mar, trazendo artistas de todo o mundo para a bonita Costa Vicentina. Dura 5 dias mas se tiveres o bilhete para o festival inteiro podes acampar no recinto durante 10 dias e aproveitar a praia da vila. Este ano o cartaz do Sudoeste foi excelente: S.O.J.A., Donavon Frankenreiter (postei na Surf Locus um artigo sobre este grande surfista e músico americano), Natiruts, Pete Tha Zouk, Calvin Harris, DJ Ride, Snoop Lion, Frankie Chavez (também fiz um post sobre este grande Português), Mind da Gap, Richie Campbell entre outros, juntando Reggae, Hip Hop, Rock, etc, num único festival.

   Unfortunately the waves were not so good for surfing, although there was some surfers in the sea. I was really hopeful that I would get waves Southern in Odeceixe so we get back to the road, driving to the most beautiful beach in all of Portugal (at least in my opinion, eheh).

   Infelizmente as ondas não estavam nada de especial na Zambujeira do mar e portanto continuámos com a nossa viagem mais para Sul, esperando encontrar ondas na praia mais bonita de Portugal, Odeceixe (pelo menos na minha opinião, eheh).

   One the way there we stopped the car and gave a ride to two Austrian girls that were travelling around Portugal. We stayed at the beach for some hours and ate an improvised lunch of tuna, milk and bread with chorizo. This beach has also a Surf School were you can take some classes or rent a board. If you pass in Odeceixe beach you should definitely try to Surf and learn the greatest sport of all time, eheh. While João and André stayed at the beach talking with our new friends, I went surfing and catch the first waves of this Road Trip. After an hour, I was back on the beach and we all did a little nap before leaving this amazing beach.

   Na ida para a praia da Odeceixe parámos o carro e demos boleia a duas Austríacas que estavam, tal como nós, a viajar por Portugal. Ficámos na praia algumas horas e comemos uma refeição improvisada de Pão com chouriço, atum e leite. Esta praia tem também uma escola de Surf e um local para alugar pranchas e portanto, se alguma vez passares por aqui, não deixes de experimentar o melhor desporto de todos os tempo, eheh. Enquanto o João e o André conversavam com as nossas novas amigas eu fui apanhar umas ondas, as primeiras desta road trip. Depois de um tempo voltei para a praia mais feliz e dormimos todos uma sesta antes de sair da praia.

   After a relaxed afternoon in the beach of Odeceixe we went to São Miguel Camping, near to Odeceixe. This camping is very good, with plenty of shadows, bathrooms with amazing condition but its a little bit expensive since it is ranked as 4 stars. Each of us paid 11.25 euros for one night, all included. Around this time, we didn't spend almost no money because we always bought our food from the supermarket.

   Depois de uma tarde relaxante na praia de Odeceixe fomos até ao Parque de Campismo São Miguel, perto de Odeceixe. Este parque de campismo é muito bom, tem bastante sombra, casas de banho com condições espectaculares mas é um pouco caro já que está avaliado com 4 estrelas. Cada um de nós pagou 11.25 euros pela noite com tudo incluído. Desde que começámos a viagem gastámos muito pouco dinheiro pois temos sempre comprado a comida no supermercado.

   We bought our food for the night in the camping supermarket and then we started to set up our tent and cooking. I also told André to draw something to do with our trip and that resulted in the drawing that I posted in PART 2. Unfortunately André only did 2 drawings, representing the first and second day of our trip. While I took some notes of the trip and wrote PART 2, João was cooking our dinner, I mixture of onions, sausages, tomatoes and pasta. We also camped beside our two friends and learn more about their trip.

   Comprámos a comida para o jantar no supermercado do parque de campismo (sempre um pouco mais caro do que os supermercados normais), montámos a tenda e começámos a cozinhar. Também disse ao André para desenhar qualquer que tivesse a ver com a nossa viagem, resultando no desenho que está na PARTE 2. Infelizmente o André apenas fez 2 desenhos, representando o primeiro e segundo dia da viagem. Enquanto eu tirava algumas notas sobre a viagem e escrevia a PARTE 2, o João cozinhava o jantar, uma mistura de cebolas, salsichas, tomates e massa. Acampámos junto às nossas amigas austríacas e fomos conversando sobre as nossas viagens.

   After dinner we had the most amazing night. We talked until very late about everything and me and André started playing guitar for the two Austrian girls, one French and a German couple that we met at Camping. We also drunk Becherovka, a strong drink from Czech Republic that João brought from Prague. It is always great to meet other people during trips because one can make a lot of contacts for future meetings and learn all about the different cultures around the World. André even tried a little bit of Yoga, learn by one of the Austrians.

   Depois de jantar tivemos um serão muito porreiro. Falámos até bastante tarde sobre tudo e eu e o André ainda tocámos guitarra para as duas Austríacas, um Francês e um casal de Alemães que conhecemos no parque de campismo, enquanto bebíamos uma forte bebida vinda da República Checa, Becherovka. É sempre muito bom conhecer pessoas durante as viagens porque assim criamos uma rede de contactos porreira para futuros encontros e assim aprendemos sobre as diferentes culturas do Mundo. O André ainda praticou um pouco de Yoga, ensinado por uma das austríacas.

   After sleeping such a "restful" night, we woke up with a great view over the sea, and as the weather was hot but not sunny, there was no one on the beach besides the life guards. Nevertheless that was great to take this next photo of Praia da Aberta Nova:

  Depois de uma noite tão "descansada", acordámos com uma grande vista sobre o mar e, como o tempo estava quente mas com pouco sol, não estava ninguém na Praia excepto os Nadadores Salvadores. Vendo pelo lado positivo, tirei esta foto da bonita Praia da Aberta Nova.

   After an improvised breakfast of jelly, cookies and juice we said goodbye to Aberta Nova and got back on the road. We made the travelling South mainly listening Gentleman, talking about the future and the way we are going to conquer the World, eheh. We pass through Sines that has one of the more important ports of Portugal and arrive at São Torpes Beach, very well know for its good condition for Surfing. Unfortunately, like I was expecting after checking WindGURU, there was no waves because this was a particularly soft week in Portugal Surfing Scenario :( . São Torpes is also great because its water is hotter than the usual Portuguese Beaches as some factory nearby uses the water from the sea to cool down their processes. (don't worry, the water is not polluted in this process).

  Depois de um pequeno almoço improvisado que consistiu em gelatina, bolachas e sumo, dissemos adeus à Praia da Aberta Nova e fizemo-nos à estrada. Seguimos viagem para Sul ao som de Gentleman, falando sobre o futuro e da maneira como iremos conquistar o Mundo, eheh. Passámos Sines, que tem dos Portos mais importantes de Portugal e chegámos à Praia de São Torpes, bastante conhecida pelas boas ondas. Infelizmente e como já estava à espera devido à análise do WindGURU, o mar estava completamente flat, concluindo assim que esta é definitivamente uma semana má para o Surf em Portugal. São Torpes também é uma praia porreira porque a água é mais quente do que o habitual das praias da região. Acontece que a água do mar é utilizada por uma das fábricas nas redondezas para arrefecer os seus processos (mas não te preocupes, a água não fica poluída).

The second day of the road trip // O segundo dia da road trip. Praia da Aberta Nova - Vila Nova de Milfontes 

  As this was our second trip to Vicentina Coast we decided to pass Porto Côvo and Pessegueiro Island and go in the direction of Vila Nova de Milfontes, but if you are planning to do this trip, you should definitely go to Porto Côvo as this town is very beautiful and the fort near Pessegueiro Island is worth seeing. We even tried to do this Geochaching challenge were you use your GPS to find some boxes hidden somewhere in strategic points, but then we thought that would take a lot of time and we decided to do a little bit of Rally since we have an Opel Frontera 4x4. From Porto Côvo to Vila Nova de Milfontes you can take some secondary roads that are just beside the coast-line and find this awesome and beautiful beaches, much of the times with no-one to be seen. With a little bit of luck, one could even be alone and surf very good waves.

  Como esta era a segunda vez que fazíamos uma viagem pela Costa Vicentina, decidimos passar a vila de Porto Côvo e a Ilha do Pessegueiro (nomes estes eternizados pela grande música de Rui Veloso). Se estás a planear fazer uma viagem com esta, deves certamente parar em Porto Côvo e ver esta vila lindíssima tal como visitar o forte junto da Ilha do Pessegueiro. Ainda pensámos fazer um daqueles desafios da Geocaching, onde se usa o GPS para encontrar certas caixas escondidas em lugar estratégicos, mas depois pensámos que seria mais divertido fazer um pouco de Rally já que conduzimos um Opel Frontera 4x4. De Porto Côvo para Vila Nova de Milfontes existem caminhos secundários que seguem a linha de costa e de onde podes tomar atalhos para praias selvagens que muitas vezes não têm ninguém e são lindíssimas. Ainda podes ter a sorte de encontrar boas ondas e ficar a surfar sozinho.

   While we're doing our Rally Vicentina, we were also searching for Malhão Beach, know to have very good waves and beautiful ladies, eheh. As there was no sign pointing us to this paradise, we got lost and in no time we were in Vila Nova de Milfontes and we passed the beach. Since we were already in the village we decided to set up our camping site in Camping Milfontes and lunch (bread with beef). Setting up camping site is already very fast for us, as everyone know is job. This camping-site is very good because you have plenty of shadow given by very tall pine trees, the people are always very nice and there is always many youth taking vacations in this village as it is one of the main villages in Vicentina Coast, full of different beaches and a strong night nightlife. The Camping price was 8.80 euros for each person including the car and electricity. We were very well welcomed in the Camping-site and as we were cooking our dinner a very nice guy offer us a soup (we must have looked starved, eheh).

  Enquanto fazíamos o nosso Rally Vicentina, procurávamos a Praia do Malhão, conhecida pelas boas ondas para surfar e bonitas mulheres, eheh. Como não há nenhuma placa que indica esta praia, perdemo-nos e em menos de nada tínhamos chegado a Vila Nova de Milfontes. Já que tínhamos chegado à vila, decidímos montar a tenda no parque de campismo Camping Milfontes e almoçar (umas sandes com bifes). Para nós montar o campismo já é uma tarefa rápida e fácil pois toda a gente sabe o que deve fazer. Este parque de campismo é muito bom porque tem muita sobra dada por grandes pinheiros, as pessoas do parque costumam ser muito simpáticas e há sempre muita malta nova a acampar em Mil Fontes pois esta é uma das principais vilas na Costa Vicentina, com várias praias diferentes e uma vida nocturna muito boa. A noite neste parque de campismo custou-nos 8.80 euros incluindo o carro e a electricidade. Fomos muito bem recebidos no parque de campismo e enquanto ainda estávamos a cozinhar um senhor ofereceu-nos uma sopinha (devíamos parecer cheios de fome, eheh).

   After such a good lunch (João is an amazing chef), we had to fight with a strong laziness and we got back on the road trying again to find Malhão Beach again. It is very difficult to find this beach as there is no signs, but after a good time we managed to find it, driving maybe 3 km in dirt roads to the beach. Once again there was no waves in Malhão but we play some beach football and enjoyed this beautiful beach. The waves were no good for surfing but were actually very good for Body Surfing. After asked some ladies were would be the party that day in Vila Nova de Milfontes, we got back to Vila Nova de Milfontes and decided to sleep a bit, because we were very tired from last night.

   Depois de um bom almoço (o João é um cozinheiro bastante razoável), lutámos com uma grande preguiça e fizémo-nos à estrada, tentando encontrar o paraíso, a Praia do Malhão. É muito difícil encontrar esta praia porque não há sinalização nenhuma e o melhor é sempre perguntar a alguém onde fica. Depois de talvez uns 3 km a andar por estradas de terra lá encontrámos a famosa praia. Mais uma vez não havia ondas no Malhão mas aproveitámos para estar um bocado na praia e jogar futebol. As ondas não estavam boas para Surf mas estavam até muito razoáveis para fazer Body Surfing e portanto, nem tudo estava perdido. Depois de perguntar a um grupo de senhoras onde seria a festa nesse dia em Vila Nova de Milfontes, voltámos para o acampamento e decidimos descansar um pouco pois a noite passada tinha sido mal dormida.

  After some resting we started cooking our dinner and after some time the perfect meal was cooked. I forgot to say in the beginning but we brought with us a bottle of "Ginginha" from my place, produced by my Father. This drink was our desert after meals during the trip, but not for long eheh. After dinner and the washing of the dishes we started talking, playing some music and eventually some friends of João arrived at the Camping with tons of food and wine. Around mid-night we walk to the village to go to some bars and we stopped at Rossio Bar where a live concert was on and they we're selling some cheap "Caipirinhas". After that we moved to some bars near the beach (a little more expensive) but then, as we were very tired, we start moving to the Camping. On the way there we also stopped at SudWest disco but the price to enter was to high compared to our budget, eheh. 

  Depois de algum descanso começámos a cozinhar e depois de algum tempo a refeição perfeita estava cozinhada. Esqueçi-me de mencionar antes, mas nós levámos para a viagem uma Ginginha feita pelo meu pai. Esta bebida foi sempre a nossa sobremesa depois de qualquer refeição, mas apenas durante as primeiras da viagem, eheh. Depois de jantar e lavar a loiça continuámos a falar, tocar algumas músicas com as guitarras e eventualmente chegaram uns amigos do João da faculdade ao acampamento, com toneladas de comida e vinho. Depois da meia-noite fomos até ao centro da vila ao Bar Rossio onde estava a decorrer um concerto e onde havia umas Caipirinhas muito baratas. De seguida fomos para um bar junto à praia que infelizmente era um pouco mais caro mas não ficámos por lá muito tempo porque estávamos nesta altura um bocado cansados. No caminho até ao Campismo ainda parámos na discoteca SudWest mas o preço de entrada era demasiado alto para o nosso orçamento, eheh.

(PART 2) Surf / Road Trip, Vicentina Coast and Algarve - 1st/ Primeiro Dia - Praia da Areia Branca - Praia da Aberta Nova

  The night before we started our trip to Vicentina Coast, we were planning on going out just for a couple of hours in Praia da Areia Branca, my Hometown, as at 12th August we would start the Road Trip and we wanted to get up early.

  A noite anterior a começarmos a nossa viagem para a Costa Vicentina, planeámos sair à noite na Praia da Areia Branca apenas algumas horas, de maneira a sairmos cedo no dia seguinte, 12 de Agosto.

  Just like any Portuguese, we were out of schedule because the night was simply to good at Sunset Party of Barraca Bar. Praia da Areia Branca has a lot of bars by the seaside and in Summer there is always many people there at night drinking the Portuguese beers SuperBock and Sagres, talking about Surf and the Surf Lessons they had during the day or maybe just enjoying some music. During the day this bars are great because they give support to the people on the beach and one can go there to eat or drink some coffee.

  Como bons Portugueses que somos, hehe, atrasámo-nos bastante pois a noite foi muito melhor daquilo que estávamos à espera. O bar Barraca tem organizado umas Sunset Party todos os domingos com música na areia e muita malta a divertir-se. A Praia da Areia Branca tem muitos bares no paredão ao longo da praia onde as pessoas também se reúnem á noite para beber as boas cervejas Portuguesas SuperBock e Sagres, falar sobre as aulas de Surf que tiveram durante o dia ou apenas aproveitar para ouvir música. Durante o dia estes cafés também são porreiros porque servem de suporte à malta que está na praia. Um local onde as pessoas podem comer um gelado ou beber um café.

   If you are planning a Trip or just planning to go somewhere in the Coast of Portugal to enjoy some town at its maximum, you should come to Praia da Areia Branca because you will definitely have a good time. You can stay at the Camping, in the Youth Hostel that is located 5 meters from the sand or you can choose to go to Areia Branca Beach Hostel, where you would have a very welcoming staying and met Rui, a good friend and surfer that can help as your guide in Praia da Areia Branca.

  Se estás a planear fazer uma Road / Surf Trip por Portugal ou então passar uns tempos num local fantástico na costa Portuguesa e aproveitar os teus dias nesse local ao máximo, recomendo vivamente que venhas para a Praia da Areia Branca onde terás uma estadia excelente. Podes ficar no Parque de Campismo, na Pousada da Juventude que é provavelmente a melhor de Portugal por se situar a cerca de 5 metros da areia!! ou então podes sempre ir para um Hostel, tal como o Areia Branca Beach Hostel onde irás ter uma recepção muito acolhedora e conhecer o Rui, um grande amigo meu e surfista que certamente te guiará pela pela Praia da Areia Branca.

   Praia da Areia Branca is also a great place for Surfing, where you have two Surf Schools. Most of the plans for accommodation also include Surf Lessons and you should ask for it, saving some money. Surfing is a great experience that one should at least try once in life. The feeling of riding a wave is just amazing and I am completely addicted to it.

  A Praia da Areia Branca é também um local excelente para o Surf, tendo à tua disposição 2 escolas. Grande parte dos planos de alojamento tem disponível aulas de Surf e tu deves pedi-las de forma a poupar algum dinheiro. Surfar é uma experiência espectacular e todas as pessoas devem experimentar pelo menos uma vez na vida. A sensação de apanhar uma onda é inexplicável e pelo menos eu estou completamente viciado.

  You also have plenty of places where you can eat, like "Tasse Bem" with its delicious Burgers or if you prefer a more comfortable, full meal, I strongly recommend you "Foz" that as a great view over the sea, with delicious food and very good service.

  Tens também muitos sítios óptimos para comer na Praia da Areia Branca. Podes comer os deliciosos Hamburgers no "Tass Bem" mas se preferires uma refeição completa e mais confortável podes sempre optar pelo "Foz", com vista para o mar, comida muito boa e óptimo serviço.

  If you stay in Praia da Areia Branca for a while, you can also take the opportunity to visit some cool places around like Óbidos, a very old castle taken by the Portuguese probably at 1148. The village inside the castle is just beautiful, very well preserved and you can try the famous "Ginginha de Óbidos" a delicious local drink. You can also go to Buddha Eden, an enormous garden related to Buddhism or you can go to Lourinhã, and visit the Dinosaurs Museum, as Lourinhã is the European capital of Dinosaurs. These are just some things of the vast options you have when visiting Praia da Areia Branca.

  Durante a tua estadia na Praia da Areia Branca podes aproveitar para ver alguns dos locais mais espectaculares da zona Oeste tal como Óbidos, uma vila muito bonita dentro de um castelo milenar e onde podes provar a famosa ginginha de Óbidos. O Buddha Eden também é muito engraçado, um jardim dedicado ao Budismo. E já que a Lourinhã é a capital Europeia dos Dinossauros, porque não visitar o Museu dos Dinossauros? Estas são apenas alguns dos planos que podes escolher enquanto gozas a tua estadia na Praia da Areia Branca.

   

Óbidos

   So, last night, the party was awesome, with a DJ with his set in the sand and people dancing everywhere. We met some tourists from Finland and Germany that were in Praia da Areia Branca for 3 weeks to learn how to Surf. We even managed to get some free beers by helping dismounting the party. So, with such an amazing party, we got up at 12 in the next day, and you some delays we were on the road only at 14.

  Portanto, na noite passada a festa foi muito porreira. Conhecemos algumas turistas da Finlândia e Alemanha que estavam na Praia da Areia Branca durante 3 semanas para aprender a Surfar. Ainda conseguimos bebidas "à pala" ao ajudar a carregar a máquina de cervejas até ao bar. Consequentemente, depois desta grande festa, acordamos apenas ás 12 no dia seguinte e com vários atrasos, apenas seguimos viagem às 14.

   For this trip we have taken a Surf Board, Tent, Table, Chairs, mini-fridge, 2 guitars, a football, plenty of food like tuna and rice, sleeping stuff, GPS and a box full of Cd's for the road, like Matisyahu, Arctic Monkeys, C2C, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gentleman and others.

 Para esta trip, já que levamos um carro enorme e preparado para fazer um Rallyzinho, levamos connosco uma prancha de surf, uma tenda, mesa e cadeiras, tapetes, uma pequena arca frigorífica, muita comida, duas guitarras, GPS e uma caixa cheia de Cd's para a viagem. Ao longo da estrada teremos a companhia de Matisyahu, Arctic Monkeys, C2C, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gentlemen e outros.

  Then we started our trip with destination "some beach near Sines". We only stopped once in our way down to buy a watermelon from a farmer across the road. It is very common for the farmers to sell their fruits and vegetables alongside the road in Portugal for very cheap prices. We bought the watermelon for 1.50 euros and continued our journey South.

  Começámos então a nossa viagem com o objectivo de parar numa qualquer perto de Sines. Parámos apenas uma vez na estrada Nacional para comprar uma Melancia de um agricultor que tinha a sua carrinha ao pé da estrada. É muito comum em Portugal os agricultores venderem os seus frutos e vegetais ao longo da estrada por preços muito baratos. Comprámos então a melancia por 1.50 euros e continuamos a nossa viagem para Sul.

First day trip // Primeiro dia da Trip. Praia da Areia Branca - Praia da Aberta Nova

We stopped to buy a watermelon from across the road. This is our car, 4x4 for Rally eheh. You can also noticed the posters that we attached to the car's windows. The left one is about Surf Locus, with some links to the blog and Facebook Page. The right one was made by André and is about our Trip. Coast Trip version 2.0 // Paragem para comprar uma melancia.    A local friend that I knew in Lisbon, recommended me to go to Praia da Aberta Nova and so we drive there and the beach was very beautiful. Unfortunately for me, there was no waves and so no surfing. Nevertheless we  enjoyed the beautiful beach, took a swim in the sea and then we decided to stay overnight to save some money. In Portugal is prohibit to camp on the beach/ set up a tent but if you sleep without tent and don't make a camp fire there is no problem.

  Um amigo meu de Lisboa que é local de Grândola, aconselhou-me a passar pela Praia da Aberta Nova e portanto foi lá que fomos no primeiro dia. Essa praia é mesmo muito bonita e ainda preserva aquele estado natural que falta ás praias a norte de Lisboa. Infelizmente não havia ondas para surfar mas fomos de qualquer maneira para o mar tomar um banho e depois decidimos passar a noite na Praia da Aberta Nova. Em Portugal é proibido acampar na praia, ou seja, montar a tenda e fazer fogueiras, mas desde que não o faças não há problema.

   We also cooked in the parking lot of the beach as it has a lot of tables with view to the sea. The water for cooking was brought for the bathroom of a nearby bar and then we start cooking pasta with tuna and sausages. The beaches in the South are almost non-touched by humans and so they are really beautiful:

   Também cozinhámos no parque de estacionamento da praia pois este tem à dispozição uma série de mesas. Cozinhámos um verdadeiro "pitéu", massa com atum e salsichas.

   There was a lot of people parked overnight in Praia da Aberta Nova and we met a very nice Italian couple that were travelling the coast of Portugal (we met then later in the road). We show them Surf Locus and they show us their circus Spazio Bizzarro. After that me and André started playing guitar nearby our car (some Jack Johnson and Arctic Monkeys) in some improvised bed and that was really great until it started to rain and we had to get back to the car and sleep there.

   Na Praia da Aberta Nova havia também muita gente como nós que ía passar por lá a noite e portanto tivemos a oportunidade de conhecer um casal de Italianos que também estava a fazer a costa Portuguesa (encontrámo-nos mais tarde noutra praia). Nós mostramos-lhes o Surf Locus e eles mostraram-nos o circo deles na Itália, Spazio Bizzarro. De seguida eu e o André começámos a tocar guitarra numa cama improvisada que montámos ao lado do carro. A noite fez-se por alguns tempo aos som de Jack Johnson e Arctic Monkeys até que começou a chover e tivemos de voltar para o carro, onde acabámos por dormir todos apertados.

(PART 1) Surf / Road Trip, Vicentina Coast and Algarve - Last year's trip // Viagem do ano passado

   First of all, I decided to write this post in both Portuguese and English because this trip was around the coast of Portugal and I believe there is a need to show the beautiful coast-line of Portugal not only to non-Portuguese speakers but also to some Portuguese, Brazilian and other Portuguese speakers that may want to visit this part of Portugal that is truly amazing. If you don't know Portuguese, please read only the paragraphs in black, otherwise you may read the brown ones! Enjoy!

   Boas, primeiro que tudo gostaria de informar que farei esta série de posts também em português, pois acredito que é necessário mostrar a bonita costa portuguesa não apenas a todo o resto do mundo, como forma de impulsionar o turismo no nosso bonito país, mas também mostrá-la aos Portugueses que ainda não visitaram esta parte de Portugal. Também é importante não esquecer a enorme comunidade Brasileira e todos os outros países como Angola e Moçambique onde a língua oficial é o Português. Portugal é mesmo um país espectacular com uma riqueza cultural incrível que deve ser mostrada a todo o Mundo. Portanto, se és Português, podes ler apenas os parágrafos a castanho ;). Espero que gostes!

   Hi once again! As I had previously said last week, me, João, André and Surf Locus took a trip around the beautiful coast line in the South of Portugal, also known as Vicentina Coast. Before we went to this trip, me and a friend created what would be the next Surf Locus logo that you can already see in the top of this page and in Surf Locus Facebook Page.

  Olá mais uma vez. Tal como tinha anunciado anteriormente, eu e dois amigos que conheci em Erasmus decidimos fazer uma viajem com a Surf Locus pela bonita costa Sul Portuguesa, a famosa Costa Vicentina. Antes desta viajem criei com a enorme ajuda de um grande amigo meu o novo logo da Surf Locus que já podem ver no topo do Blog ou na página de Facebook da Surf Locus.

   We also decided that we would do the best publicity to Surf Locus in this trip as we could, so we printed a lot of small cards with Surf Locus Facebook and Blogger domains that we distributed by people that we met on the road. He also printed some big logos and putted in the car's windows.

  Também decidimos que iríamos, ao longo desta viagem, fazer o máximo de publicidade ao Surf Locus junto das pessoas que iríamos conhecer. Portanto imprimimos uma série de cartões com o logo da Surf Locus e o nosso domínio Blogger e Facebook e colámos uma série de posters no nosso carro.

  This amazing trip started in Praia da Areia Branca, my Hometown, at August 12th. Me, João and André met in Prague while doing our Erasmus semester and last year we did this great trip that began in Caminha and ended in Sagres (something like 600!!!! km of coast), and so we travel through all the west coast of Portugal in 2 weeks and was so amazing, such a great adventure that we decided to do it again.

   Esta viagem começou na Praia da Areia Branca, onde vivo actualmente, no dia 12 de Agosto de 2013. Como disse anteriormente nós conhecemo-nos em Praga enquanto fazíamos o melhor semestre da nossa vida de estudantes universitários, o Erasmus. No verão de 2012 fizemos também uma grande viagem pela costa Portuguesa começando em Caminha, lá mesmo no topo de Portugal e acabando em Sagres, fazendo cerca de 600 km de costa. Esta viagem teve a duração de 2 semanas e sendo simplesmente espectacular, decidimos repetir a experiência.

   Last year we've been in so many Portuguese cities like Braga, Oporto, Aveiro and Lisbon and also discover so many new towns across the coast-line full of day and night life. We also took the opportunity to reunite with some friends from Eramus and  stayed in mine and André's house in Porto. The adventures from last year are countless and amazing that before I start to write about this year's trip I have to show you some photos from last year, enjoy:

   No ano passado viajamos por muitas cidades Portuguesas como Braga, Porto, Aveiro e Lisboa, mas também por praias maravilhosas com uma vida nocturna espectacular (principalmente costa Norte) ou praias quase no seu estado natural (costa Sul). Tivemos também a oportunidade de estar com os nossos amigos de Erasmus, espalhados um pouco por todo o país e ainda ficámos algumas noites na minha casa e na do André no Porto. Gastámos muito pouco dinheiro nesta viajem (menos de 300 euros em 2 semanas) e foi uma aventura espectacular. Antes de começar a escrever sobre a trip deste ano, preciso de mostrar algumas fotos da viajem do ano passado:

    As we are short on time because we have to write our Master Thesis, we began this trip in Praia da Areia Branca and continue to drive South. In one week of travelling we've been in many places, met tons of People, embraced the rich Portuguese culture, enjoyed the beautiful beaches of Portugal and despite the fact that we were camping we ate a lot and actually very good food, especially in João Silva's place in Monchique.

   Como estamos apertados de tempo pois estamos a acabar as nossas Teses de Mestrado, decidimos começar esta viagem na Praia da Areia Branca e continuar a descer a costa. Apenas em uma semana de viagem conhecemos muitas pessoas novas, locais, abraçamos a rica cultura Portuguesa e aproveitamos as praias espectaculares de Portugal e apesar de estarmos a acampar, comemos muito e bem, principalmente na casa do João Silva em Monchique.

   Before I write anything about this Surf / Road Trip that pass through Sines, Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, Odeceixe, Albufeira and Monchique I felt that was necessary to show you last year's trip. Stay tuned for the full report of this trip. Have Fun!!
