Surfer Magazine Hot 100 2013, congratulations John John Florence

Just like I mentioned in my post reviewing the Oakley Pro Bali 2013, Surfer Magazine did a list of the Hot 100 surfers in the world, like they do every year. This list gathers the best young surfers in the world.

This year's first place goes to the 21 years old John John Florence, that is currently in his 2nd year of the ASP World Championship Tour, placing himself 4th last year (in his rookie year, amazing!!).

The following video is just awesome (also in HD). Let me share with you the Surfer's magazine Hot 100 men surfers of 2013:

Following the Hawaiian John John Florence is the Brazilian Gabriel Medina and the american Kalohe Andino. More information about this great list, please follow this link.

For the Portuguese out there, the 18 years old surfer Vasco Ribeiro is placing in the 44th place in this list.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I surely had, showing you the future of surf. Have Fun!!

   Congratulations John John Florence!!

Barefoot Truth

Last week I showed you the great musician and professional surfer Donavon Frankenreiter, that has many beautiful songs and a crazy surfing style.

This week I want to show to you a very cool band: Barefoot Truth. They are an american roots rook band with beautiful jam's and acoustic songs. An unusual feature about Barefoot Truth is that their lead singer, Will Evans, is also the band drummer. He also remind me of "Shaggy" from Scooby-Doo, lol.

Barefoot Truth. Down Left is Will Evans, the lead singer, drummer and guitarist
So far, they released 6 albums with great musics such as "Roll If You Fall", "Damage Done", "Changes in the Weather", "The Ocean" and "OK".

So, without further ado, let me show you some of their songs:

Donavon Frankenreiter, an unique style in both Music and Surf

Can someone have such a wonderful life? Donavon Frankenreiter is a Musician and FreeSurfer. From is own words “Today can I write a song? Today can I get barreled? It's always exciting"

I admire Donavon Frankenreiter a lot because of the way he talks and expresses is love about Life, Music and Surf. He is an old friend of the Musician and Surfer Jack Johnson and sometimes they play together. Let me show you a great song of him, "On My Mind":

His first album "Donavon Frankenreiter" was released in April 2004 in Australia due to his high popularity there, both from being a professional surfer and playing in Jack Johnson concerts. Cool songs from the first album include "Free", "It Don't Matter" and "Make You Mine".

Since then, he has been releasing very good albums and songs, with an acoustic background and great mood ;). My recommended songs are "Girl Like You", "Beautiful Day", "Move By Yourself", "Wondering Where The Lions Are", "Your Heart" and "Keeping Me Away From You".

Let me show you another great song, "What'cha Know About":

Surf Locus Facebook Page

Hi, today was a blog configuration day. I created the SurfLocus Facebook Page to allow SurfLocus followers ;) The SurfLocus Facebook Page automatically synchronizes the blog's posts so you have fully information about the SurfLocus activity there.

I will also be posting some short messages, videos and news about Surf (including news about the ASP World Tour Events), Music, Books, Travelling...

Later this month I will add a new SurfLocus profile picture to Facebook ;)

I also created an easier way to connect with the blog in the blog itself. I add a new Facebook banner in SurfLocus and a list of buttons at the end of every post to share it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+...and also  "Like" and +1 buttons.

I hope you like this changes ;) Have Fun!

Go Skateboarding Day

Today is the International Skateboarding Day or Go Skateboarding Day, an annual holiday conceived by the International Association of Skateboard Companies, to promote skateboarding, thank you Wikipedia ;)

Since I first start writing this blog, I learn so many things, in order to share with you quality information, and this "Go Skateboarding Day" in such a thing. One week had passed and I'm enjoying so much to write SurfLocus...

I don't have so much time to blog today, but I felt that was really important to share this date with you. Skateboarding is a lot of fun and for me it was very important because it "push" me to Surf. Nowadays I'm still skating, but I don't put so much effort on that, as Surfing is my great passion. Nonetheless, I really enjoy to skate from time to time, when the ocean is "flat" ;)

Let me show you some YouTube videos about surfing. The first is a skate freestyle of the Dew Tour 2012, the second is about a skate Legend, Rodney Mullen that created a lot of skate tricks, the last is a Red Bull Skating Movie.

Paolo Nutini

Thank you Spotify, once again!! I believe most of you know about this Music Social Network, that is sharing music in Portugal since February and in other countries, like USA, way before it. Today, with the help of Spotify, I found a very good Artist, Paolo Nutini

Paolo Giovanni Nutini is a Scottish musician with Italian descend that has been singing since he was very young. He signed with Atlantic Records at the age of 18!! His first album, named "These Streets" was realeased in the Summer of 2006 and was quite well received in the UK, achieving double-platinum and 4 songs in the Top40, songs like "Jenny Don't Be Hasty", "Last Request" and "Loving You".

His second album was a major success in UK, with huge selling numbers, claiming the Best Album at the Ivor Novello Awards.

So,  without further ado, let me show you a couple of his songs ;)

Praia da Areia Branca and Surf

Today was a special day, as I surfed really good waves in a season that has not been so good to practice this sport. I really enjoy being with my friend Rui Sousa and catching a lot of waves ;).

So I think today's post should be about Surf, and particularly about my hometown, Praia da Areia Branca, Portugal, near Peniche, one of the best regions to Surf in Europe.

As this is not the best beach to Surf in this region, I was really impressed by the quality of waves today, and happy that I could Surf in my hometown. So I will show you some pictures of this spot ;)

Learn to play guitar, it's a lot of fun ;) and not that hard

Image taken from animals.desktopnexus.com
Have you ever wanted to start playing guitar but always thought it's too difficult and you don't have money to invest in guitar lessons? Do you have a guitar at home that nobody touch it?

Let me tell you this: you can learn by yourself, there are tons of information about it around the web, you just need to take that first step. I am posting this, because I learn to play guitar by myself, watching videos on YouTube and exploring the amazing world of UltimateGuitar

Music is a great part of one's life, think about it, don't you relate certain past moments to specific songs? When your sad or happy you listen to different songs, and one great song can lift up your spirit and prepare you for some task you have to accomplish.

Matisyahu and his expression through music

Today i want to share what i think is a great person and musician. Is name is Matthew Paul Miller, known as Matisyahu. He is a Reggae/Hip-Hop/Beat Boxer singer that really puts the soul in his music. Matisyahu is Jewish, and his religion is fully expressed in his songs. I find his lyrics very beautiful and meaningful and he is surely one of my favorite artists.

I leave you here with two songs; the first in a Reggae Tone, from the Album "Live at Stubb's" and the second an acoustic version of his song "Crossroads". Please take time to analyse his lyrics and the way he express himself through his music. Give me Feedback ;) By the Way, what is your favorite Artist? And Why?
